In questo caso, si rispettano le stesse regole del Present Simple alla forma interrogativa ma, invece dell'ausiliare do/does, si avrà il verbo essere e, invece del verbo alla forma base, si utilizzerà la forma in -ing. Il Present Continuous* (che si traduce in italiano col presente indicativo o con il verbo stare più il gerundio) si usa per descrivere:
